THAMES SHAREMAIIKET. Thames Guardian Office, Wednesday, December 20 The sharemarket yesterday was very quiet. Caledonians and Thames were a little easier than the preceding day, owing a few being offered at low rates, but nothing in the mine warrants a fall. Mr Binney had a good attendance at his sale this day of general merchandise, and the goods ex ‘ Annie Moore,’ being the first direct shipment of goods from Australia, attracted the “trade,” anxious to see the results of direct shipments. We quote the sale’s as follows :—Maize, .is ; hay, £G 15s ; axe handles, 11s ; orange pekoe, 2s fid ; gunpowder, 2s Id ; congou, in boxes, 28s ; halfchests, 2s 3d ; currants, ssd ; sultanas, lOd ; lemon peel. Sundries closing accounts fetched fair prices. Air James Craig sold, yesterday, by auction, the right to erect a grand stand and other booths. Bidding was very brisk, and the attendance was large. The following are the prices given :—Grand stand, bought by Air Curtis for £47 : right hand booth, bought by Air Burns for £4O ; left hand booth, bought by Air Senior for £35.
