The result of the open air meeting yesterday in reference to the water works resulted, as will be seen by the report in another place, in a vote in favour of them being placed under the control of the Highway Boards. A concert is to be given by the Thames Scottish Volunteers this evening in the Academy of Music as a benefit for the Thames Mechanics’ Institute. The programme is a very attractive one. and something new to a Thames audience, and we have no doubt but that the benefit will be a great success, judging by the literary tastes of the Thames population.
