THE MOANATAIARI TRAMWAY.

To the Editor of the Thames Guardian. Sir,—l have to ask as a favour that you will be pleased to give insertion in your columns to a few remarks which I have to make on the above subject. I regret to have to enter into public print upon any subject moie especially upon one which may be calculated to do injury or interfere with the business of other persons, but there are occasions when duty as well as interest require a person to do this, and as such is exactly my case at present, I have, therefore, no other alternative, so that I may at any risk attend to the one, and faithfully perform the other. Now, sir, my complaint is, that on or about the 7th instant, I agreed with Mr Unthank that lie would convey from the Wliau claim as much quartz as would keep ten stampers at work at the Manukau battery 7 for a period of one month from date. The quantity would be about ten trucks daily. Instead of such quantity during the last three days, there have been but three trucks daily taken from the mine to the batteiy. I have repeatedly called at the office of the tramway. At first I got no redress, aud lastly I find no person there to complain to. Now, I have no hesitation in saying that if the business of the tramway was properly attended by those in whose hands it is, it would fully do the work required, and, therefore, save from considerable loss and disappointments many valuable companies whose mining interests arc seriously injured by such neglect. That is my complaint, and I trust that those whoso duty it is to see that the tramway is efficiently worked for the benefit of the public, will do so without fear or favour to any one.—l am, dear sir, yours truly, &c., James Craig, Manager Wliau Goldininiug Company. Punga Flat, December 19, 1871.
