MONDAY, DECEMBER 18. The Speaker took the chair at 3 o’clock. Mr Carueton moved, “ That leave be given to bring in a bill to amend the Auctioneers Licensing Act, 18G3.” Mr Farmer seconded the motion, which was agreed to. The bill was brought in, read a first time, and ordered to be printed. The second reading was fixed for Wednesday next. the highway boards embowering act, 1871. Mr Sheehan moved, “That a respectful address lie presented to his Honor tho Superintendent, recommending him without delay by proclamation to extend and apply the provisions of Parts 2,3, 4,5, G, and 7 of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand entitled the Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871, to all the existing highway districts of the province.” He explained at some length the legal bearing of each of the parts referred to, and how it affected the existing laws of the province. The Provincial Treasurer seconded the motion, which was agreed to.
