IMPORTANT TO MANAGERS OF COMPANIES.
An important notice appears in the New Zealand Gazette of the 30th lilt., by wnich the attention of the managers of incorporated companies and joint stock companies arc warned of the provisions of the Stamp Duties Act Amendment Act, 1871, requieing that all companies carrying on business iu New Zealand, except mining or flax companies, shall take out a license in the form prescribed by the Act. This license amounts to one shilling per cent, on the nominal capital, but is not to exceed a maximum of £2OO in respect of any one certificate of corporation. This regulation affects all foreign companies carrying on business in the colony, banks, gas companies, and in fact all incorporated
companies, save those engaged in mining and flax ventures. The regulation comes into force on the Ist of January,Tß72, before which date, therefore, licenses must be procured.
