ANOTHER SUPPOSED ATTEMPT AT INCENDIARISM.
Rumour was current last night that an attempt had been made at fire-raising a Newton during the continuance of the fire in Chapel-street. It appeareu that some person passing along the Kaianga hope Road, near the Newton Toll-bar, saw a bundle of rags saturated with oil burning briskly at the corner of a ten ce around a property belonging to Mr “robert. Little damage was done, the lire having been discovered in time. On inquiry at the police aut unities we learned that a report had been made to them to a similar clfect, but they had not received the full particulars.
