HIGHWAY DISTRICT BOARDS.

JOINT COMMITTEE MEETING. A MEETING of the Joint pointed to repiesent the Waiotahi, Kauwaeranga, and Parawai District Boards, was held yesterday. Present: —Messrs Dowden and Warmoll, Waiotahi ; Messrs Scott and Lipsey, Kauwaeranga ; Messrs Alloin and Spencer, Parawai. Mr Warmoll was elected to the chair. The following resolutions were pa«iPropnsed by Mr Allom, seconded by Mr SrENCER— “ That, in the opinion of the Waiotahi, Kamvacrnngn, and Parawai District Boards, the time has arrived when an effort should be made to procure a suitable site as a park or recreation ground for the use of the inhabitants of the Thames goldfield, and that any delay in so doing will be attended with increased difficulty and expense.” Proposed by Mr Dowden, seconded by Mr LirsEY, “That a copy of the minutes of this meeting be forwarded to bis Honor the Superintendent by the chairman, and that the Superintendent be requested to bring this matter before the Executive and Provincial Council, now in. session assembled, with a view to a sufficient sum of money, say £2,000, being placed on the estimates, to carry out the object proposed.” Proposed by Mr Spencer, seconded by Mr Dowden, “That Messrs Warmoll, Allom, and Lipsey, be a sub committee, and they are hereby appointed, for the ■purpose of acquiring information and taking such steps as may be necessary in communicating and co-operating with the Government for securing the recreation ground for the Thames Goldfields. Proposed by Mr Scott, seconded by Mr Allom, “ That a copy of the foregoing resolutions be forwarded to each of the goldfields members, with a letter, request--ing their co-operation in carrying out the desired object.” A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the meeting. The sub committee meet at MrWannoll’s to-day at 11 a.m. The members of the joint committee, in company with Major Cooper, visited several localities between Shortland and Totara point yesterday.
