COMMERCIAL.
Thames Guardian Office. Monday evening, November 27. business during tbe past month has only been remarkable for its extreme quietness, no sales of any particular character have taken place, and the auction sales have nc/t been numerous, we may look forward to increased activity during the next month as Christmas orders will becoming in. Brcadstuifs arc a trifle firmer owing to the new duties : Adelaide flour is now sold 10s to los per ton higher than our last quotations, but sales of all brands arc confined to present requirements. Horsefced moves oft slowly : altogether the produce trade has shown but little activity during the month. Groceries have been in more request, and parcels have changed hands at quotations. Wines and spirits arc onlyquitted in small lots, enquiries have been made for first class brands of ale and porter —the market is only barely supplied. Candles have receded in price owingto heavy shipments. In teas we have no change to report. Mining affairs progress favorably, and our batteries are well off for coals ; requisites for the mines arc fairly supplied ; blasting powder is worth 7'd to yd per lb : quicksilver 3s fid to 3s lOd.
