AN EXPLAINATION.
To tho Editor of tho Thames Guardian. Sir, —In all the local papers it is stated that the transfer of the license for the Grahamstown Hotel, to Mr John Uncles, was not granted because the necessary notices were not duly published. Mr Uncles advertised in the Thames GuarDAIN of the 9th inst., and in the Evening Star of the same date, so you will see that the reports referred to are incorrect. Mr Uncles produced the papers this morning, when the transfer was granted. In justice to myself, I request you to publish this letter.—l am, &c., H. J. Roche.
