CALEDONIAN GAMES.

A meeting of the working committee was held on Saturday evening, at the Wharf Hotel, when ten members were present; Mr Briton in the chair. Mr Robinson explained what had already been done. Mr Goodall and himself had laid off the ring for the races, and had fixed on the spot for the erection of the grand stand, booths, &c., and that the ground was to be put in order immediately. Mr Craig had also been instructed to sell the stand, booths, &c., on Tuesday next. Mr Thomas had given a liAndsome silver cup, as first prize for the Cornish wrestling; and Mr Pierce, of the Wharf Hotel, had sent to Auckland for one as a first prize for the Cumberland style of wrestling. The owners of the ‘ Golden Crown ’ had agreed to run a special trip from town on the 30th, and to charge only single fare for return tickets. The Committee thanked these gentlemen for the work they had done. Mr. Howard, of the Theatre Royal, offered the Committee a silver cup as a prize for such event as they might think fit, provided that the prizes be distributed at the Theatre Royal. It was agreed to accept this offer, on the condition that the cup only be presented at the theatre.
