THAMES GAS SUPPLY.
Tite following gentlemen, viz., Mr. Atkinson (engineer to the Auckland Gas Company), Mr. Keals (architect), and Mr. Owen Jones (secretary to the Thames Gas Company), arrived by the 1 Golden Crown ’ yesterday, to make the requisite borings, and to ascertain the depth required for the foundation of the chimney, &c., about to be erected by the Thames Gas Company. Men were provided to work the boring apparatus by Mr E. Thomas, and it was ascertained that a suitable foundation could be obtained at a depth of fifteen feet. Mr Keals has,we believe, received instructions to prepare the necessary plans, specifications, &c. ( for the erection of the stack retort houses, and other substantial buildings. which will be erected most probably of stone ; tenders will be called for at an early date. "We are happy to inform our readers that we are soon to be supplied with so valuable a requisite, and wish the promoters success, and the shareholders a substantial profit for their needful undertaking.
