ACCIDENT AT THE INVERNESS TRIBUTE.
An accident occurred yesterday at the Inverness tribute, by which one of the tributers, named Schofield, Avas severely hurt. It appears that Avhilst he was engaged at Avork in the stopes, a quantity of earth Aveighing, it is supposed, two tons, fell upon him, and’completely buried him. After being extricated by liis mates, Avhicli took some time to accomplish it was found that he Avas very seriously hurt. He Avas at once conveyed to his own residence in Davy-street, Avhere lie now lies, under the medical treatment of Dr. Lethbridge. The sufferer has sustained fracture of the collarbone, and considerable injuries in the arm, back, and upper parts of the body. Mining accidents have been sadly frequent of late here, and for the past feAV days casualties have been of almost daily occurrence. The necessity of the greatest care and caution on the part of all engaged in the dangerous Avork of mining is forcibly pointed out by the constant repetition of these serious catastrophes.
