WELLINGTON.
We extract the following from the Hatches j Bay Herald of November 3 : The House Avas occupied last night in committee from eight till four in the morning, on the Otago Waste Lands Bill. In the Legislative Council Mr. Sewell announced last night that lie had received a letter from Mr. Fox, telling him that if be did not resign, the Executive would be dissolved. lie had therefore tendered his resignation. Mr. Waterhouse announced that he had joined the Executive without office, to conduct the business in the Upper House. He said lie hoped that, during the recess,a strong and permanent Ministry Avould be formed. To-day Mr. McLean said that the rumor that Rewi Maniopoto bad joined Te Ivooti Avas unfounded. The relations Avitli the natives were very friendly. It is rumored that Mr. E. B. Cargill is to be called to the Upper House during the recess, and that lie will join the Ministry. The Regulation of Elections Act Amendment Bill lias passed through committee.
