Business in the market has improved slightly during the past week. No great increase has taken place in the number of sales but stocks generally arc firm. Caledonians closed at £l23j 10. s, £125. buyers; Thames, £24 10s ; Tookeys, £27 ; All Nations, £5 ss, with very little demand ; Nonpareils, £5, in better demand towards the close of the week; Waitematas closed firm at 15s ; Ballarat and Rising Sun, 10s fid. in steady demand at that price ; Red Queens closed firm with very few sellers at its : Golden Calf, £2 17s fid ; Central Italys. £2 10s. in fair demand all the week : Bright Smiles, £2 12s fid, but very few changing hands ; Smiling Beauty, 7s to 5s Gd. buyers unsatisfied ; Bird in Hand, 7s 7s Gd ; Standard, (is, 5s ; Otagos have been in demand all the week at reduced rates, and buyers were plentiful on Saturday at £3 10s, £3* 15s : Black Angels have sold from 12s fid to ISs, and ISs to 15s. There has been very little enquiry for any other stock during the week. Mr. R. B. AUCKLAND SIIAKFATAIIKET. November -1. Mr, J. Tonson Garlick reports :—" A steady business done in Caledonian, and great demand for Red Queen. Sales this dav—Caledonian, Cll7 10s. £llß, £ll9, £ 120, closing at £122 10s; Red Queen, Ss. Ss Gd. and 9s. held for 10s ; Tokatea, 80s; l’ride of Tokatea 3s Gd ; Thames, buyers £23:” Mr. J. M. Lennox reports :—“ There was a good demand during the day for Caledonian and Thames shares. My sales comprise— Caledonian, £llß to £l2O, closing firm at the latter quotation; Thames, £23 ; Tokatea, 82s ; Red Queen, 9s to 7s Gd.
