AMUSEMENTS.

Theatre Boyal. —A complimentaiy benefit to Mr. Bandmaster Morris was tendered last night, at the Theatre Boyal, by the officers and men of the Thames Rifle Volunteers. The house was crowded in every part, and in the stalls there was scarcely standing room, an event that has not been witnessed for some time past at this place of amusement. The curtain rose, after an overture by the Volunteer band, to. Boucicault’s well-known drama of “ The Relief of Lucknow,” founded on an episode in the Indian Mutiny. Miss A. Bowring as Jessie Brown, and Mr. J. B. Steele Nana Sahib, were first-rate pieces of acting, and they were well supported by the rest of the company. By permission of Captain Murray, Mr. Fraser, piper to the Thames Scottish Volunteers, played '• The Campbell’s are Coming,” assisted by several gentlemen of the rifle battalion. At the conclusion of the piece Mr. Morris thanked the audience for their liberal support. A ballad by Miss Wiseman, very prettily rendered, and warmly applauded, followed, and was succeeded by a cornet solo by Mr. Morris, “ The Blue Bells of Scotland,” and the “ War Polka ” by the Volunteer Band (composed by Mr. J. M. Davis), both of which elicited much applause. The amusing farce of “ Family Jars, or a Bull in a China Shop,'’ concluded the evening’s entertainment.
