POLICE COURT.— Yesterday.

Before W. Fr*ser, Esq., R.M. Richard' Fraser, John Walsh, Thdmas-'Roberts," James Ellis, and Adolph Beissell, charged with being drunk did net appear, and the amount of their/baiß was ordered to be forfeited. Mary’ Anri Rogers, was charged with being drunk and incapable on Grahamstown Beach the previous; day.—Mr Bullen said the woman had been amusing herself with wading into the mud, and got nearly smothered.—The R.M. said he had not seen the lady lately, but it appeared the reason was that she had been undergoing a sentence of 3 months imprisonment for habitual drunkenness.—For the offence with which she was charged she would .be fined 10s with the alternative of 24 hours imprisonment in case of nonpayment. Fighting. —John Williams and John Thomas alias Glen were charged with causing a breach of the peace by fighting in i yard adjoining the Jetty Hotel, Brown-street, at 12 o’clock on Saturday night.—Both men (one of whom had a bandage over his right eye) pleaded .guilty.—The R.M. said he should call upon each of them to be bound over to keep the peace for the next 6 months, themselves in £SO and two sureties of £25 each.—The required securities were procured. Vagrant Goats. —Ann Hickey charged with permitting three goats to wander at large in Mackay-street, was fined 3s. and costs, or in default of payment, 24 hours imprisonment.—Bridget Earle for a like offence, as regarded two goats, was fined 2s. and costs, witli a like alternative.— Richard Kenny charged with allowing one goat to wander at large in Mackaystreet, was fined Is. and costs, or in default 24 hours incarceration.—David Wilson for a similar offence was dealt with in like manner. Furious Driving.— J. Rountree was charged with furiously driving a horse in Abraham-street.Grahamstown, on the 24th instant, to which charge he pleaded guilty and was fined ss. or 48 hours imprisonment.
