Thames Guardian Office, .. tt- •. Saturday evening. October 2S. Mr D. J. O’Keeffe offered for sale, on Saturday, at his temporary offices, Brownstreet, Grahamstown, a quantity of goldmining shares. There was not a very large attendance, and not much business was done. Hazelbanks fetched B.Jd; Hand and Band, 6s. The following were withdrawn at the prices named : —Sir Walter Scott, 10s ; Celt, 12s 6d ; Shotovcr, 12s 6d ; Sailor Prince, 7s ; Thames View, 3s; North Devon, 20s (bidders at 16s) ; Islay, 5s ; Una, 21s. At W. Dowden’s sale this day, the following prices were realised :—Maize (Sydney) realised 5s 3d ; bacon. Od ; fresh butter, 5d to 7d; cheese (Auckland), 6d ; potatoes (in small lots), £d 10s.
At Messrs. Gudgeons’ sale this day, the house and fenciug around Mr. Goodall’s premises realised, £lll ss, A quantity of furniture, produce, and miscellaneous merchandize was also submitted to the hammer. The articles sold realised fair prices.
THAMES SHAREMARKET. WEEKLY REPORT. The market has been quieter during the past week than for some time previously, buyers scarce, and few stocks changing hands. Caledonians have risen steadily from £ll2 10s to £l3O ; Thames, £22 10s to £25 ; Tookey, £27 10sto £2B, few changed hands; Nonpareil, £o 15s, £5 12s 6d ; Long Drive, £ll 2s 6d ; All Nations, steady demand all the week at £5 10s, but, few in market; Waitemata, very little demand during the week, but on Saturday there were buyers at 12s 6, and sales were effected; Alburnits have steadily gone up from £6 to £B, and are well held ; Golden Calf, buyers on Saturday at £2 17s 6d, few sellers ; Bright Smiles, £3 os to £3 2s 6d, and well held at £2 15s, few buyers ; Smiling Beauty, 6s 6d 7s, 7a 6d; Bird-in-Hand, 6s ; Hand and Band, 6s ; Standard, 6s, 6s 6d, 7s, small parcels quitted ; Golden Spur, 4s 6d ; Ruby, 5s ; Little Angel; Claremont, 9s ; Otagos have sold during the week from £2 17s Gd to £4 ss, firmly held for an advance. A much healthier tone pervades tlic market than at the beginning of last week, and buyers arc more plentiful.
