RETURN OF DR. POLLEN AND MR. MACKAY.
The result of the meeting held at Oliinemuri, at which Dr. Pollen and Mr. Mackay were present, is, that the majority of the natives are in favouv of opening the telegraph line. Wi Koka Unahi handed over all his interest in the matter to Mr. Mackay. Hohepate Rauhihi, Tareranui, and Te Kereihi proceed to Tokangamutu to-day (Monday), and will be absent about ten days. It is pretty well understood on all hands that they are merely going pro forvi't, and to let themselves down easy from their position as obstructives, and that the whole matter is arranged. Dr.. Pollen and Mr. Mackay left Oliinemuri yesterday for Hikutaia, to sec the natives at that place. The natives there were unanimous in agreeing to permit the wire to be taken over their lands wherever required. Through the influence of Mr. Mackay, we understand that Messrs. Louis Diliars and Pearson were allowed to pass through to Tauranga.
