—» [Pan GMTlliliH it Co.’s (Reuter’* Ag«nta) Express.] INQUEST ON LATE MR. COHEN. DEATH BY POISON. JURY CANNOT AGREE. DIOCESAN SYNOD OPENED. Auckland, 8.50 p.m. f At the inquest on the body of the late Mr. Cohen, Dr. Hooper deposed that death was caused by strychnine. The jury are discussing their verdict, but cannot agree. Up to the present time eleven want to bring in a verdict to the effect that there was no evidence to show how the poison was administered, and one wished to bring in a verdict of felo-de-se. The Diocesan Synod commenced its sittings to-day. Bishop Cowie delivered a lengthy opening address.
