AMALGAMATION OF CLAIMS.

To the EOitor of Tub Thames Gcaiuman. Silt, —In this morning’s issue of your paper, my signature to a letter referring to the proposed amalgamation of the Nonpareil and Waiteniata claims was given as “ John Ward ell.” I do not blame you for this, as I confess my writing is not too distinct. The heading, “The Latest Bubble,” was not mine : indeed so far from thinking that amalgamation is not desirable, I am most decidedly of opinion that if the two claims were one, each

would benefit, but the terms should be well considered. My intention in writing was to inform shareholders that I had nothing whatever to do with the initiation of the proposed amalgamation ; but I now purpose giving the matter some attention, and to this end early next week I will make section drawings of the two mines, and place the result before your readers. I am, &c,, John Goodall, C.E, Grahamstown, Oct. 21, 1871.
