OUR VOLUNTEERS.
Last evening the Engineers and Nqp. 1,2, and 3 Hauraki Volunteers met at the Volunteer Hall. There was a good attendance of officers and men. After preliminary drill Major Cooper marched the force to Parawai, where the men were put through battalion and skirmishing drill in very good style, for which they were complimented by the gallant officer in command. On returning to the Hall they were dismissed, after which there was a meeting of No. 1 Company, at Constants Hotel, Captain Lipsey in the charir. The advertisement convening the meeting having been read, the chairman said they were called together to elect a committee to make arrangements for firing for four valuable prizes—a silver cup, a rifle, a purse, and a suit of regimentals. The following were elected a committee to make arrangements : —Color-Sergeant Campbell, Corporal Macdonald, and Messrs Collins, Hanan, Cheshire, Sergeant Snow, Sergeant Parker, Messrs Wicks and H. Hay. It was also resolved to have a dinner on the 9th November, and the same Committee was appointed to make the arragements, and to report to a meeting to bo held on Saturday next.
