Star of the South arrived at Tararu wharf yesterday morning with 350 sheep and GO head cattle, consigned to Mr J.Bauks. Capta'n Holmes reports that he left Hawkes Bay at 5 o’clock p.m. on the 11th, and rounded the East Cape at noon on the 12th. Experienced heavy gah>s from the westward, and put into Hick’s Bay at 6 p.m. ou the 12th and remained there 24 hours, leaving at 6 p.m. on the 13th. Rounded Cape Colville yesterday morning at 4 n.m., and arrived at Tnraru at 9 a.m. yesterday. The Keerawas hourly expected at Napier when the Star left. Ihe Luna left Napier on the morning of the 11th for Wellington with the superintendent of Hawkes Bay and a la T ge number of natives, who are concerned in the Hapnuku land case Wc arc indebted to Captain Holmes for Hawkes Bay papers to the 11th instant, from which extracts will be found in another column. The s.s. Napier was to leave Poverty Bay for Napier on the 12th iust. The brigantine Anne Moore made this harbour from Launceston this aftcruoou. She brings a cargo of 102 tons of potatoes in splendid condition, aud 10,000 staves. Left Launceston ou the Ist instant, and during the first part of her voyage experienced strong easterly gales, followed by light varible winds until making the Three Kings on the 14th. Thence westerly winds prevailed until ficr arrival in harbour.
