Courbet, a member of the Commune Committee, a painter, sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, appears to have been let off so easily, because it was shown that lie' voted against most of the Commune’s odious decrees, and prevented the destruction of some of the works of arts in the Louvre. Parent, acquitted, was not proven to have taken a prominent part during the reign of terror, and M.
