THE GEORGE STEPHENSON CLAIM.
To the, Edit or o£ the Thames Guardian. Siß,r—Will you permit me to correct a statement which appeared in your issue.of the 12th instant in your report of the George Stephenson and Black Forest Claims, Hape Creek. The shareholders of the first-named claim have only been working eleven weeks, and did not put in a drive to cut the Black Forest reef, but the Pretty Nelly leader. Sinco the leader at present being worked was cut specimens have been taken out daily, and from present appearances the George Stephenson men feel confident they can open up their ground without amalgamating with any of the surrounding claims.—l am, &c., George Stephenson, October 13, 1871. [Our reporter received his information respecting the Black Forest Claim from a man working in it, who represented himself to be the manager, but who, it would seem, could have been nothing of the sort. A further report respecting . the George Stephenson Claim appears in our mining columns this day.—Ed. T.G.]
