SMOKING IN THEATRES.

To the Editor of the;TiiAMES Guardian. Sir, —A few days ago I saw a very clever article, in the Eueniny Star on the above subject. I only hope the author of it was at the Academy of Music last night, when the smoking nuisance was simply intolerable. How any ladies remained in the house in a nicotine atmosphere, on which one might have hung his hat, had he been so minded, I do not know. Either this kind of thing must be put a stop to, or the Theatres will be shut up.*—l am, &c., Pipe of Peace. I In reference to the above we may state that Mr. B. N. Jones made a determined effoit last night, by an appeal to the better feelings of the audience, to put down the nuisance complained of.—Ed. T. G.]
