ATTEMPTED SUICIDE AT ONEHUNGA.

(from our own correspondent.) A very sad eveqt opcqrrefi at Qnchunga on Friday morning. A man named Atkinson, who had been residing at the Manukau Hotel previous to leaving in the ‘St. Hilda’ for Whang,mui, attempted suicide by discharging ihe contents of a gun into his side. The wound caused is of a serious kind, and it is feared will prove fatal. The gun was loaded with duck shot, aud had been taken by Atkinson from a bodroom adjoining his own. Tho deed xypH committed under the jnfiuence of drink. In the absence of wadding, a LlO and a LI note were used to force the charge home. The sufferer was removed at once to the Provincial Hospital.
