Sydney, Sept. 3. An uupleasantly hot gale has been blowing all day. The oity was smothered iu clouds of dust. Mason Bros.' largo warehouse in Sussex street was unroofed aud partly demolished, blocking traffic. Several people narrowly eaoaped being injured. Other buildings are slightly damaged. Melboubne, Sept. 3. The weather is very rough along the coast. It is reported that rockets were noticed last night off the entrance to the Gippsland lakes from a supposed vessel iu distress, but thero is no sign of her today. The steamer Charlotte Feuwick is the only vessel expected, which has not been reported. The Wenona, from Kaipara experienced tho full foroo of the gale, and narrowly escaped beiug driven on the Tasmaniau coast.
