ACCIDENTS, OFFENCES, ETC
Henry Hay ward, clerk to the Inglewood Town Board Board, has been arrested on a charge of embezzlement of several small amounts belonging to the board. All the men suspected of complicity in the Frasertown (Hawkes Bay) robbery, are now in custody. A native named Hik 1 Pene Tuhi, was arrested by Constable Uoughlan, and Robert White, a half-caste ringleader of the gang, who escaped when being brought in on Saturday morning, gave himself up on Tuesday. The accused were remanded for eight days. Since the arrests a large amount of property has been recovered. The gang apparently has been carrying on depredations for some time, as many settlers report property missing.
