FOOTBALL.
COLONIALS Ist V. WAIHI 2nd. (Flag Match.) The above teams met on Thursday last on the Waihi ground, Winchester, for the first time this season. The weather was fine, and the attendance good. Mr T. Hart made a capital referee, his decisi ons giving satisfaction to both sides. In the first spell the visitors had the best of the game. Shirtcliff gained a mark for the C olonials, but Boys failed in the kick. nother easy chance was lost by the bad A ace kicking of the Colonials, and the plrst spell ended without any score. In fihe second spell the game was fast and texciting, the local men playing a much better game, and several times being within an ace of scoring. The match ended in. a draw, neither side scoring. The back play of the Colonials was firstrate, their smart kicking being much admired. The Waihi men had the advantage in weight but lacked combination.
