NEW AUSTRALIA.

Sydney, April 10. Further developments have taken place as regards New Australia. .Casey, one of the promoters, states that when Head, secretary to the old Association, disappeared, he left Thomas Hall in charge of the Sydney office with power of attorney to deal with the property of the Association. A few days ago Oaaey ascertained that the keys of the office were lying in a newspaper office addressed to him. He thereupon visited Head’s office, accompanied by his solicitors, when + hey discovered nothing but an empty safe. All the property, books, records, deeds, and securities of the association were missing. Before Head disappeared he supplied Casey with an approximate statement, from which it appeared that the assets of the association exceeded the liabilities by £3OOO. This included the value of the barque Royal Tar, landed property, bank scrip, office fittings, and other items. Casey says that he had negotiations with Head with a view of handing over the property to him as representative of the new association, but that no agreement was arrived at. Head remained in possession, and later on disappeared. Casey says that he has no idea where the property or deeds have gone, and adds that it was impossible for him to ascertain their value as he was never allowed to examine the books of the association.
