London, April 8. Lord Braasey is to be created a Knight Grand Cross of St. Michael and St. George. AUSTRALIAN CABLE.
Sydney, April 10. In the Legislative Assembly last night the Governor’s Salary Reduction Bill was read a third time by 40 votes to 38 votes and finally passed. Tho Legislative Assembly have accepted the vital amendments made in the Land Bid by the Legislative Council. Some of the unimportant amendments were negatived.
The New Zealand bowlers were officially welcomed by the Mayor in the Town Hall. They played their first match on the Ashfield green yesterday and sustained a defeat, the scores being New South Wales, 107 points, New Zealand 77 poipts. Tho New Zealand bowlers in the second match played on the City green, scored 109 to 63 by the local players. In a third match, played on the Waverley green, New South Wales scored 105 to 73. Further returns for Hospital Saturday show that the day realised £3400.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of an officer of H.M.S. Mildura who has disappeared. He was entrusted with a cheque to pay accounts and cashed it, but has not been seen since. Nothing further has been heard of B.M.S. Rapid; it is believed that she has proceeded on to New Zealand. Melbourne, April 10.
