GAPES' VALLEY SPORTS.

The Gapes’ Valley sports w.ere.favored with fine weather, aud there was a fair attendance.

Only two horses started for the Hurdle Rice, Mr McKay’s Dai^y - 'and Mr Ashby’s Mac. Daisy baulked at the first hurdle, and Mac baulked at the last, which allowed Daisy to win by about three lengths. The 100 Yards Race brought out five competitors —A. Opie scr., E, Beckley 2yds, S. Bryan 2yds, J. Moore syds, and A. McKay 7yds. A good race resulted. McKay led for 70 yards, when Bryan got through, and won by a yard. The Maiden Trot attracted a field of five The Dolphin, Jessie, Barbwire, Winnie, aud Tommy. The Dolphin got away well in the early part of the race. Tommy came up well at the finish, and if he had not broke coming up the straight would very nearly have wpn. The Dolphin won by about thrfe lengths. Five horses started for the Cup. This was a splendid race. The horses all kept together for a mile and a quarter. Phyllis then got in the lead and won comfortably by four lengths. Four started for the 260 Yards Race— A, Opie ocr., iS. *ryan 4yds, £. Beckley 6yds, aud J. Moore 12yds. Beckley won by a yard. Five horses started for the Walk, Trot, sud Gallop—Forest Maid, Wild Oats, Cissy, Bob, aud Dick. Dick walked clean away from the others, and won by 20 lengths. The Cockatoo Hack Stakes attracted a field of eight—Phyllis (101 b penalty, for Cup win), Forest Maid, Ada, Jess, Dick, Cissy, Tiuker, aud Susan. This was a ding-dong race from start to finish. They all kept together for three-quarters of a mile, when Phyllis got through and got in the lead, which she maintained to the finish, winning all out by two lengths, Susan second.

440 Yards Foot Hurdles was won by J. Moore.- Only four started. Three staged for the Handicap Trot— Religion scr., The Dolphm lOsecs, and Tommy 25secs. TorC.my kept in the lead for a mile, when he wii? passed by the Dolphin, who was trotting steadily, and who kept in the lead to the finish and won by four lengths. Four horses started for the Final Flatter (J mile) The Tinker, Ada, Maria, and Susan. The Tinker won easily. A special werd of thanks is due to Mr A. Orton for the excellent way he wielded the starter’s flag. The social in the evening was a great success.
