PORT OF TIMARU. ARRIVED. Jan. 2 Glencairn, schooner, 60 tons, Palleson, from Pelorouß Sound. SAILED. January 2—Omapere, a.s., 352 torn, Fleming, for the south. Sydney, Jan 2. Arrived Tarawera, from Wellington, after a smart passage of 3 days 22 hours. The cutter Emma Matilda drifted ashore in entering the heads to-day. Two hands who were on board, including the master, Berndroff, took to the boat, which capsized, and both were drowned. —The brigantine Anthonß had a sensational experience on her voyage from Kaipara. During a terrific thunderstorm two aerolites burst close to the vessel, and one of the crew received a severe shock. In order to prevent accidents the vessel's helm was lashed and the crew ordered below.— Sailed: Mararoa, for Auckland. Among the pasengers are Sir J. P. Abbott, Speaker of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, and the Hon. J. Garrard, Minister of Public Instruction.
