A party of natives .were singing songs in their whare, and because his wife mentioned the name of another man in a song, Eria Mbtawhou, taking the opportunity of the other natives leaving the whare, stabbed her in the stomach and breast, and then made off to a j?ah three miles distant, whbre he bbtainied a gun and shot himself through the head, dying immediately, the unfortunate woman lingered several hours and then,died.
