DUNEDIN WOOL SALES.

The first wool Bale of the season was commenced to-day. There was about the usual attendance of Home and foreign buyers, but prices showed a considerable falling off compared with last season's. The drop off fleece wool was about l£d per ft>, but pieces, bellies, and locks did not suffer so much. Good crossbred realised 6£d to 7|d, halfbred from 6d to 7|d, one lot extra quality Bd, Romney from 6Jd to 6|d, Liucoln from sid to 6|d, bellies and pieces from 3d to s£d, locks from to 3Jd. : CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MABKET. i At the Addington Yards on Wednesday in consequence of there being no sale next week the market was a double one. Fat Cattle—Best sorts Bhowed a decline on last week's prices, the quotations being beef 16s to 18s per 1001 b. Beßt steers sold at £8 to £9 15s, secondary £5 15s to £7, heifers £5 to £6 17s 6d, cows £5 to £8 17s 6d. Dairy Cattle—Dairy cattle met with a dull sale, and in store cattle the business done was of a most meagre description. Fat Sheep—About 6000 fat sheep oame forward. Prime heavy-weight crossbred wethers sold at lss to 14s, freezers 12s to 13a 6d, seoondary sorts 9s 6d to lis, best crossbred ewes 10s 6d to 12s, secondary 7s to 10s, best merino wethers 8s to 10s, secondary 5s to 7s 6d, merino ewes 4s to 7s 6d. Fat Lambs—ln fat lambs about 1600 were on offer. Prices were from 7a 6d to 13s. Store Sheep—ln store sheep thore was a medium demand at from 6a to 10a Gd, Pigs—Prices for baconera and porkers advanced to within a shade of 4d per lb. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydnky, December 19. In February the Government will introduce a Bill providing lhat imported meat must be marked'. It is understood that the Conservatives will not oppose it. The London Dock Company will adopt Nelson's new thawing process at their stores. A Vienna salesman advises the shipping of quantities of live cattle to Trieste. He estimates that a good profit can be made out of the trade.
