AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. The Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Limited (per Mr J. Muudell, auctioneer), report on the horse market at Tattorsall’s on Saturday, as follows Our entry comprised 29 horses and II cows. The attendance of buyers and

others interested waa good during the sale, and we have to report a slight improvement in value for young draught the supply being short of the . demand, cows in profit also sold well. We quote prices realised : Horses. Draughts; young with trial, £l3 10s, £l4 to £l6; do light aud aged, £8 10a to £lO 10s; light harness sorts, £ll 10s to £l3 6s; hackneys, £5 10s, £7 to £8 6s. Cows.— On account of Mr T. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association of Canterbury, Limited,; report for the week ending December. 14th, 1894, as follows: During the week < business in grain and produce has been quiet, attention being centred on the wool sales. Wheat remains; ; in the same position as last quoted, but; holders are firmer in sympathy with' English and Australian markets. Oats .are not coming forward freely, and the. market closes in favour of sellers. Other; cereals are neglected. Potatoes have practically closed;for the season. Dairy produce is in full supply, but prices are fairly steady. Present quotations l f.o.b. Lyttelton,: sacks extra: — Wheat—Prime milling, pearl, velvet, or tuscan, 2s 8d; hunters, 2s 7d; second; class, Id to 2d per ;bushel less; fowls; wheat, 2s 4d. Oats—Milling Canadians, Is 7d; short 1 feed, Is Gd to Is 7d; danish; Is 5d to Is Gd. Peas—Blue Prussians, 2s Gd to 2s 9d. Beans—2s 3d to 2s 4d. Potatoes Nominailly 20s at country atations. CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKET. • At the Addington Yards on Wednesday there were fair entries of stock. Fat Cattle—l7o head of fat cattle were yarded, good to prime. Steers met with fair competition, but the bulk of the yarding consisted of heifer and cow beef. The market was slightly easier, except for prime sorts, and 20s Gd per 1001 b may be quoted as: the average price. Best steers sold at £8 2s Gd to £lO 15s, secondary £6 15s to £7 10s, heifers £5 15s to £7 17s Gd, cows £5 5s to £9 2a Gd. Dairy Cattle—There was a slightly improved enquiry for cows and. springers, but prices are without alteration. Store Cattle—ln store cattle there was a large entry; good useful young cattle, many of which were in forward condition. Three and four-year-old forward conditioned steers were in good demand, one line realising £6lss. Younger cattle aud inferior sorts were not in demand, and very few changed hands. Fat Sheep—The market for fat sheep waa again over-supplied and only the primest sorts maintained last week’s prices. Prime heavy weight crossbred wethers sold at 13s 6d to 15s 10d, freezers 12s to 13s Gd, secondary sorts 9s to 11s, : beat crossbred ewes 11a to 12s, secondary 7s to 10s, merino wethers 8s to 10s, ewes 4s to 7s 6d. Fat Lambs—ln fat lambs, in spite of a I large entry, business was decidedly brisk. ; Buyers for export bid; freely for all suitable sorts, and the yarding was cleared at from 7s Gd to 13s Id. Store Sheep—ln store sheep the entry was principally 2- tooth crossbreds, which were slightly lower than they were last t week. Pigs—Owing to a small supply prices ior best baconers and porkers advanced slightly, 3|d per lb being the quotation. CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALES. Christchurch, Dec. 14. The second wool sale of the season was held to-day, when 15,200 bales were catalogued. There was a good attendance- of Home and local buyers. The bidding for fleece wool was spiritless, aud little was sold, the wool disposed of being chiefly fellmongera’ lots. Only about 120 lots out of the first catalogue of 343 lots were sold, the remainder being passed or withdrawn. There was a general decline in Values as compared with the last sale, of from Jjd to fi per fi>. The prices realised were—Greasy crossbreds 5d to 7 id, halffcred Gd to Bd, merino 3fd to 6fd, pieces up to s|d, bellies 3d to 4|d, locks and pieces Id to 3£d,locks Id to 2fd. December 16. The wool sales were continued on Saturday, and though things appeared a little brighter no change for the bettor took place in prices, and only about half the catalogue was cleared. Merinos were a perfect drug. DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKET. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday : Wheat—Good demand for prime tuscans and velvets. Prime quality tuscan and velvet, 2s 9d to 2s lOd ; red chaff, 2s 8d to 2s 9d ; chick feed (scarce), good whole wanted, 2s 4d to 2s Gd. Barley—Very little demand; brewers are full, aud little selling for malting. Oats are firmer, and have good inquiry. Prime milling and tiptop feed, Is 4£d to Xs sd: good plump bright feed, Is 4d tols&df ‘ F 9d. Potatoes—Good old, a few wanted, 30s fo 355. New potatoes, Id to per lb. Chaff—Fair supply, best heavy well cut, £2 7s Gd to £2l2s Gd; light and medium, £llss to £2 ss. Ryegrass—Good demand for small, shotty seed (from 261 b to 28lb) 3a lOd to 4s. Sheepskins—-At auction on Tuesday prices were about up to those obtaining last week. Fewer gr ;eu skins in the wool now come forward, their place being taken by the bare pelts, winch are well competed for, but at prices in sympathy with the very much lower prices obtaining at Home. Inferior and light fetch Id .to l|d; ordinary weights; to Ifd; extra heavy (only, on rare occasions), 2d to 3d. per lb. Tallow and. Fat—A very satisfactory market exists for all offering. Best rendered motion (in suitable condition for shipping), is worth' 18s 6d to 20s; .medium to good, 15s 6d to 17s ,6d; inferior to medium, 12s 6d to 15s per cwt (ex store)! DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Market on Wednesday; the following business was transacted!:— Fat Cattle— 224 head yarded. About; one-third were prime, the rest < cows and; steers of very medium. quality. Beet pens, were in fairly, brisk demand, and brought i rather over last-week’s rates; others were' mostly taken by.graziers at-slightly lower prices. Best bullocks sold at £7 5s to; £lO 17s 6d; others, £5 10s to £7 2s 6d; best cows, £6 2s 6d to £8 17s 6d ; others; (aged) £3lss to £6 17s 6d. Fat Sheep—l 476 crossbreds, of which 400 were in wool, and 300 merino wethers, mostly shorn, yarded. Bidding was quiet, with a further, fall in values of from Is toi Is 6d a head, and although vendors were! prepared to sell at the reduced values' some had to be sent home unsold. Crossbred wethers (in wool) brought Us to 14s; 9d for extra; crossbred ewes (in wool),: 8s 9d tolls do; shorn wethers, 8s 6d to 14s for one pen; shorn ewes, 7s 9d to 10a 6d for extra; merino wethers (in wool), 7s 6d to 8s 6d; do (shorn), 2s to 4s. Lambs—s 37 were penned. All sorts were in brisk request, and * showed : an advance in values of Is to Is 6d a head, over-ruling rates at last week’s sale; Best brought 8s tolOsfld, others6s6d to7s9d. Pigs—l 46 yarded, suckers, stores* and porkers. The-demand was anything but satisfactory,-and prices ruled all in favour of buyers. MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. London, December 13. The West Australian Goldfields Company, Limited, shows a profit for six months of £47,000- A dividend was declared at the rate of 25 per cent, for the year and £25,000 was carried forward. December 14. New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock 105£; 3A per cent, do, 99|. New Zealand long-berried wheat, ex warehouse, flat at, 25s 3d. South Australian wheat, ex warehouse, quiet, at 25s 6d. A South A ustralian wheat cargo, ex luvergarry, sold at 24s 6d. Victorian wheat, ex warehouse, quiet, 25s 3d. New Zealand frozen mutton, first quality, 3|d per ft; second do, per .ft. Lamb, first quality, 4§d. Tbe New Zealand hemp: market: is not changed. For Kauri gum there is good demand and prices remain firm. 2600 packages were offered and 2000 sold, and there are at present 2850 packages in stock. Threequarter scraped brought 765; half-scraped 455; pickings, 335. . Silver, 2s 3£d. The Copenhagen committee have reduced the price of butter by 4s per cwt. Kroner’s finest quality is quoted at 96s to 100 s. At Bradford wool sales the prices are steadier, but there is very little doing. Madrid, Dec. 16. Despite the opposition of the Government ,a motion has-been carried in the Chamber reducing the import duty on wool. Sydney, December 16. In November last year the wool sold locally averaged £lO 5s per bah, while this year the average was only £8 12s.
