TEMUKA V. TIMARU B FIFTEEN, This match was played at Timaru on Saturday, the light being bad right throughout the afternoon. Timaru won tho toss, and sent Temuka in to bat. The first four wickets soon fell. McLean then came in, and by good play, assisted by Dr Hayes and Anderson, brought up the score to a respectable total. The Timaru men were so pleased with McLean’s innings that they took possession of him when the Temnka innings closed, and carried him shoulder high into the pavilion. The fielding on the Timaru side was not up to the mark, several chances being missed. Temuka went into the field with the feeling that they had a chance of polling the match off, and as every man did his level best, both at bowling and fielding, the desirable result was attained. C. Perry played an excellent innings for Timaru, Orbell being the only other man in the team to make a stand. Allan bowled well for Timaru, and Hawkes even better for Temuka. Low was not so successful as usual, although very few runs were made off him. Afternoon tea was kiudly provided by lady friends of the Timaru Club, and was very acceptable as the wind was rather cold. Scores: Temuka.
