RANGITATA LICENSING COMMITTEE.
The Rangitata Licensing Committee's ( quarterly meeting took place yesterday at ( noon. J-resent —MeßsrsG.J.Dennistoun (in the chair), A. White, K, Thew, M. C. OrbeU, MeQuilkin, and Seely. . TBANBFBES. Application lor transfer of license iu respect to the Tinwald Hotel, from Thomas Stone to Michael Legan Transfer confirmed.—Mr Seely said that the new licensee had conducted the hotel in a very proper manner since taking temporary charge. Application for transfer, Commercial Hotel, ' Geraldiue, from John Dore to Timothy Connolly (Mr F. Wilson Smith) —Transfer granted. A discussion took place as to whether the committee were justified in granting • transfer in a case such aa this, where the 21 days' notice had not been given. Mr Smith pointed out that the parties had not time to give the usual notice in the present instance. The bench said they would not oppose the present transfer, but in future cases they would carry out the letter of the Act in this respect. £. CONDITIONAL LICBNSB. An application from Michael Lagan for g> conditional license for races at the Tiowald Domain was granted. The fee was fixed at 10s. BEPOBTS. The police reports on all the houses, in the district were satisfactory. There was one cue of alleged Sunday trading since last meeting, which wbb dismissed. The committee then rose.
