PAREORA LICENSING COMMITTEE.

The quarterly meeting of the Pareora Licensing Committee was held at the courthouse, Temuka, on Monday, at noon Present— Messrs C. A. Wray, S.M (chair’uian), A, M. Clark, D. Stowell, M. Quinn, E. Richardson, and J. Talbot. POLICE REPORT. The police report was favourable, and renewals were granted in respect of all houses in the district, subject to the following transfers. THE ROYAL HOTEL. Mr Perry applied for a transfer of the license of the Royal Hotel from Mr M Mulhern to Mr E. H. Brewer. The position was that the hotel, while in the occupation of the late tenant, Mr Mulhern (now bankrupt), was burnt. The late tenant had been formally ejected, and the owner was now rebuilding a commodious premises at a contract price of £ISOO. The original holder of the license could not sell. The person to whom the license was to be transferred could not sell until the buildings were completed and approved by the inspoctqr. Jf the buildings were before a quarterly sitting it would be opeu for twb menjbera to grant a license to sell prior to the ordinary quarterly meeting. -After discussion Mr Talbot moved—“ That the transfer be granted from Mr Mulhern to Mr Coira’s nominee, Mrß. H. Brewer, subject to the condition that no liquo/ be sold until the

completion of and approval of the building.” Seconded by Mr Quinn, and carried. THE TEMUKA HOTEL. The application for the confirmation of the temporary transfer of the license of the Temuka Hotel from Mary Cairns Taylor to H. Rotbwell was confirmed, the inspector reporting that the present licensee had expended a considerable sum in repairs, etc., to the building and conducted the house well. THE WINCHESTER HOTEL. The transfer of the license of the above hotel was granted from John Mclntosh to W. Johnstone. Mr Hay appeared for applicant. TBKAPO HOTEL. The transfer of the license of the Tekapo Hotel from D. McMillan to J, Craighead was granted. The inspector, Constable Mulvaney, reported favorably. Mr Hay appeared for applicant.
