ACCIDENTS, OFFENCES, ETC.
The body found in ths Nangapai river, Auckland, has been identified as that of Philip Brady, whose parents reside at Howick. A child named James Henry Gardner, aged 18 mouths, met his death at Waka marina, Marlborough, under peculiar circumstances. ’The chi.fi was lett asleep ;u a cot, and on the mother’s rotium ie f.w minutes she found him hanging by il;o chin m;d back of the h-.r.d between the handrail and side of .he cot quite dead. It is surmised that the deceased awoke during his mother’s absence, and crawling backwards became jammed in the p .sitimi in which ho was f><und, and being Unable to extricate himself was strangled. The shop >f Mr Peterson, grocer, Walker street, Palmerston South, was burglariously entered, and tobacco valued at 25s and £2 in silver stolen. Julia hmma King, a widow, aged 47, died suddenly at h>-r residence, Morning ton, Dunedin, on Wednesday night Ihe supposed Cause of death was heart disease. At l-fimedio William Houston, aged eleven years, died of his injuries through being thrown from hia horse.
