The Gothic made the record passage from London by this route, the total elapsed time being 38 days, 10 hours, 5 minutes: steaming time 37 days, 9 hours, 20 minutes. The Gothic’s best day’s run was 370 knots. Among the passengers were the Earl of Yarmouth and the Hon. Victor Hood, who landed at Hobart, and Count Jouffray d’Abbaus, French Consul for New Zealand, with his wife, who land here. Mrs K. Budd is a passenger 'for Timaru.
