GERALDINE DOMAIN BOARD.
The Geraldine Domain Board met on Tuesday evening. Present —Messrs A. White (chairman), J. M. Sutherland, W. H. Walton, J. W. Pye, H. B. Webßter, G. Ward, and W. S. Maslin. COMMITTEES. Mr Webster mentioned that the board had not elected any new committees, and he could not see that the Town Board Committees could transact the business of the Domain Board unless elected. t Mr Maslin moved "That Messrs Sutherland, Walton, and Ward (Town Board Works Committee), be the members of works committee of the Doniaiu Board with the chairman ex officio." — Carried. Resolved that the Finance Committee of the Town Board be the Finance Committee of the Domain Board. CHAIRMAN. Mr A. White was appointed chairman of the Domain Board. overseer's work. Mr Ward asked if a return had been laid on the table showing the amount of work done by the town board overseer for the domain board. The overseer produced his book, showing that he had worked for the domain board for 32 days 2 hours since March Ist, 1892. For this work it was calculated that the domain board owes the town board £9 12s. BOOKS. Resolved that the clerk obtain a small letter book for the domain board, so as to keep its correspondence entirely separate from the town board's do. correspondence. A letter was received from the Hagley Park Committee, Ohristchurch, stating that they had no authority outside the domain board aud their by-laws to prevent the public from destroying or using for other purposes any site for the use cf cricket clubs. THE DOMAIN. Mr Maslin thought that the board had rushed into the matter of altering the domain before they were ready. He considered that the board could not do anything till they had the leasee's consent in writing. He did not wish to see the board involved in a legal action. Mr Pye thought that permission should be given to the clubs to take clay for the track as soon as possible. The time was getting on, and if something were not done soon they would have to go outside the town for a sports ground. After further discussion it was resolved —" That permission be given to the sports committee to take clay, subject to the leasee's consent in writing ; the site to be pointed out by a committee consisting of the whole board." RENTS. Resolved that the clerk be instructed that all out-standing rents must be paid in within 14 days, or else summones will be issued. BUSH PARK. Mr Sutherland thought that as the lease for the Bush Park was about out it should not be let again, as the cattle destroyed the trees. Mr Maslin said that altogether the board got £l3 10s from the bush parks ; £7 10s of which was from the park referred to. He asked where the revenue was to come from if the board forego these leases ? It was all very well for people outside the town to say they ought to preserve this and that, but the revenue had to come out from the Geraldine public only. On the motion of Mr Maslin, seconded by Mr Webster, it was resolved —"That tenders be invited for that part of the bush park at present held by Mr Muudell; tenders to be in by next board meeting, aud that the finance committee prepare the necessary specifications."
THE SMAT.I- PARK. Resolved —" That tenders be called for trimming the gorse fences in the small park; tenders to be in by this day (Tuesday) week for the works committee to accept." FIUVATE GATES. Resolved—" That all private gates in the small park be nailed up if not paid for. The board then rose.
