TEMUKA ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above board was held Tuesday. Present— Messrs Talbot; (chairman), Coira, Snell, and Park, ACCOUNTS. Accounts tu the amouut of £166 OslOd were passed for payment. COBRESPONDEN Letters were read From the Timaru Harbor Board, asking the board to resist the proposed reduction in the carriage of frozen mutton by rail to Christchurch.—lt was resolved to assist the harbor board in resisting any reduction in the freight on frozen meat I for long distances. * From the Public Trust Office, asking: , for information respecting section 4260, l Rangitata.—The clerk intimated that he had already supplied the information, and his action was approved. From the Geraldine Couuty Council, reminding the board that the second contribution of £IOB Oa 2d would be due on December Ist, and asking payment of it. —.The matter was allowed to stand over until next meeting. From Beveral residents in the district, petitioning the board to shingle the road from Waitohi Main Road to Gully Bush Road.—lt was decided to call for tenders for the work. From Mr C. G. Tripp, asking the board to send him some printed copies of the balance.-sheet. —The clerk had forwarded Mr Tripp a written copy of the balance-sheet, but he had returned it, stating that it was not what he wanted. He offered to pay for printing the balance-aheet, if the board would not inour the expeuse. It was decided not to print the balance-sheet. From the Geraldine Road Board, stating an application had been made to the Railway Commissioners for a level crossing over the railway at Orari Village Settlement, and asking if the board was agreeable to pay for a share of the work. —The overseer was ordered to report on the matter, overseer's ReroßT. The overseer's report was read as follows : Shingling part of Orari and Milford Roads was completed and passed for payment. Forming part of road by Cadwallader's was almost completed, and fair progress was also made with other contracts in hand. The principal day-work dono during the month was replaciug bridges on the Milford Road by concrete culverts, breaking stones, spreading shingle, etc. In reference to the road to G ully Bush Road, about 40 chains of the end joining the Waitohi Road requires to be re-formed, as it is worn very liat and holds water. Abont 30 chains of the hill requires a light coat of shingle, as in wet weather it u difficult to get along it, even with an empty dray. Poisoned grain was laid on the roads during the month. EGGS AND BIRDS. It was resolved to advertise that eggs and young birds will be purchased. This completed the business, and the board adjourned.
