f, A Wages Case. —At Dunedin a case of considerable importance in connection with attachment orders came before Mr Carew, S.M., on Wednesday. Plaintiff took proceedings to compel the employers of defendant to pay over to plaintiff defendant’s wages. One of the employers resisted the claim on the ground that no wages were due after deducting the amount due for goods supplied to defendant Mr Mouat submitted that under the Truck Act wages must be paid in cash, and that no such deduction could be made. Mr Carew upheld this contention.
