CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. Tho New Zealand Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association of Canterbury, Limited, report for the week ending November 2nd, 1894, as follow : We have little alteration to record in values of grain and produce since our last report. Wheat continues to move steadily into consumption, and the coastwise demand absorbs a fair quantity. Shocks are rapidly working down, biA manufacturers are chary of operating. Oats—Milling Canadians, Is7d; short food, Is Gd ; duns, la 7d ; Danish, Is 5d to Is Gd. pons—Blue Prussians, 2s Gd to 2s 9J. Beans—2s od to 2s 4d. Potatoes Nominally loa at country stations.
Ryegrass—Machine - dressed, 4s 6d ; ordinary, 4s; farmers’ undressed samples, 3s to 3s 6d. Cocksfoot —Machine-dressed, 5d to 6d ; ordinary, 4d to sd. Red Clover and Cowgrass—6jd to 7d. Cheese —Large, 4£d, Butter —Prime fresh, 6d to 7d; salt, 6d ; separator, Bd. Bacon and Hams—7d. Oaten Sheaf Chaff—6os, sacks included. Exports for the week :—Wheat, 3,257 sacks; oats,B73sacks; chaff, 923 sacks; flour, 1965 sacks and bags.
DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS.
At the Burnside Market on Wednesday the following business was transacted : Fat Cattle—l3s head were yarded, mostly prime quality and medium weights. Bidding was rather brisker than at last week’s sale, and prices were a shade firmer, more particularly for best pens. Bullocks sold at £7 2s 6d to £lO 2s 6d; cows, £slos to £lO. Fat Sheep—l97l penned, including 100 prime merinos, the rest crossbreds, mostly useful to prime mutton. Sales were readily made at prices almost up to those realised at the previous week’s sale. Crossbred wethers brought 14s to 17s; one pen wethers, 18s; other wethers, 12s to 13s 9d ; crossbred ewes, 10s to 16s ; merino wethers, 9s 9d to 12s. Fat Lambs—A full supply came in. Best lots sold well at quotations, but small and inferior were neglected. Best brought 9s to 11s 6d; one lamb (extra), 14s; others, 6s 3d to 8s 9d. Pigs—B4 in, the bulk suckers, with only moderate demaud. Suckers brought 8s to 14s 6d; stores, 15s to 21s 6d; porkers, 20s to 38s.
MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. London, October 30. The New Zealand and River Plate Land and Mortgage Agency Company (Ltd.) has resolved to reconstruct and close its New Zealandbusiness, retaining its River Plate connections. This is done in accordance with the circular of June 16th. A cargo of South Australian wheat, by the barque Avanti Savoia, sold at 235. Messrs Allport and Hughes are sending weekly consignments of beef and mutton to Hamburg to open up a regular trade. Victorian butter, factory-made is quoted at 94s to 100 s, choicest quality 102 s. With the exception of superior qualities, the stocks of butter in London are virtually unreduced. October 31. Mr Valentine, the New Zealand dairy expert, has applied to be allowed to resign in order to promote his company. New Zealand Trust and Loan 5 per cent, debentures are quoted at £24 10s. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,080,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,080,000 quarters. The American visible supply of wheat is 106,800,000 bushels. Vienna, October 31. The farming interest in the Reichsrath insist that the importation of Australian frozen meat into Austria should be stopped. The butchers, however, continue to sell the article at advanced prices. The Russian Ambassador has protested against the Austrian Government admitting Australian meat while excluding Russian and Roumanian.
