Sydney, Oct. 17. Six shearers were tried for rioting at Weilmoligle and abducting a number of free shearers. Five were sentenced to two years, and one to fifteen mouths’ hard labor. The shearers arrested in connection with the burning of the Rodney w** A . e ao . quitted. .. Newcastle, Oct. 17. At a meeting o tXIO Miners Delegates’ Board to consider the unsatisfactory posjt’o n 0 f the coal trade, the opinion was expressed that the position of the miners was most critical. It was decided to remit the question of what action should be taken to tbe district lodges. Melbourne, Oct. 18. A deputation representing the unemployed waited on the Premier urging that relief be extended to them The Premier replied that while he would do all in his power to start a subscription, under no circumstances would the Government be influenced by unemployed demonstrations, He said that it was a strange thing that all through the winter the unemployed were quiescent, and only awoke to activity when a new Government took office. Several members of the deputation abused the Premier before leaving.
