Brisbane, Sept. 29. Measles have broken out in the police camps in the shearing distrista. The official reason given for declaring the strike off is that the shearers consider they have won a fair advantage this year and it is necessary to prepare for another tussle with the employers iu the near future.

Dunedin, Sept. 28,
The Workers’ Political Committee have passed resolutions expressing sympathy with the workers in Queensland, especially with the Labour members expelled from Parliament; urging the Government to establish a State Bank, to provide a general currency for the colony ; soliciting the Government to institute a 44 hour week’s work in connection with labor employed in the railway workshops, instead of putting all hands on full lime, as by this means several hundred hands could be employed, thus considerably relieving the unemployed pressure; protesting against the right of selecting licensing committees being taken from the people; deprecating any invitation being sent to members of the Royal Family who are about to visit Australia, as large sums of money would be spent in entertaining them which could be more advantageously used in assisting the unemployed. The Knights of Labour call on the Premier to move iu the direction of limiting the hours of railway hands to 40 hours per week, so that some of the surplus labor of the colony may be absorbed by the railways when they revert to the State.
