TIMARU HORSE PARADE.
The annual parade of entire horses, held under the auspices of the .Timaru A. and P. Society, came off last Saturday in Cain’s paddock, Timaru. The weather was charming, but the entries of horses were not equal to previous years, and the attendance was not near so large as might have been expected. It is most extraordinary that farmers take so little interest In a matter that concerns them so intimately, as that they would not go to the trouble of going that distance to see the horses. Their convenience is studied .in every respect. The draught horse ol— was represented by only seven horses, and amongst them was only one from this district, namely, Mr Wheelband’s Young Taieri Tom, by Taieri Tom —Dot IL The horse is in splendid condition. We believe Mr Wheelband has been offered a very large price for him, but not sufficient to induce him to sell. The horse is advertised to travel this district this season. There were five thoroughbreds on the ground, but the only one from this district was Mr Deßenzy’s 4-year old colt Delorsine, by Bordermau —Nancy. This is a well-con-ditioned well-bred sire, dark in colour, without a single spot to relieve its sameness. He has all the appearance of a promising sire. The trotting and coaching *>!■■■ was good, the number exhibited being 12. Of these the only one declared for this, district yet is Lord John, by -Berlin—Princess Maud. This horse has travelled in this district before, and is very well known. He is in splendid condition. No doubt the district horses will be exhibited at Geraldine next Thursday, where we shall have an opportunity of seeing them. The official list was as follows: DRAUGHT HORSES. Mr J. H.
