FOOTBALL.

A football match, Star (Timaru) and White Star (Geraldine), came off at the Geraldine Domain on Thursday afternoon, resulting in a win for the visiting team by 11 points to 3 points. Timaru kicked off, and from the kick off Thomson headed a rush and secured a. try, within about half a minute of play commencing, but no goal was kicked from the try. It was soon seen that the visitors were more than a match for their opponents. The latter were too slow in following op, while on the other hand the Timaru boys not only followed up well but appeared to be well trained in passing. When half time was called Geraldine had been forced down four times in succession. In the next spell Geraldine warmed up slightly, but had to suffer two more force downs before Blissett dribbled out, collared the ball, and made a splendid run, passing the backs, and touched down behind the goal posts. Colbert took' the kick, but failed' to convert the try. Finlay next secured the second try for Timaru, from which, according to the referee, a goal was kicked, but . which the Geraldine team and spectators strenuously disputed in vain. Wildermoth and Peattie next each secured a try, from which no goals were kicked. Blissett again got away'for Geraldine and touched down behind the goal line, but the referee would not allow a try iu spite of opposition.from the majority of people on the ground. At the close of the match the referee, Mr Mahon, Timara, was hooted off the field by the spectators. , In the match New South Wales against the .West Coast (Grey and Hokitika combined), the day was fine and the ground' dry arid hard, and suited New South Wales well. They played a very fast game, and won by 20 points to 6 points'. A Wellington telgram says :“A member of the New South Wales football team, whose conduct is alleged to have been the chief cause of complaints against thorn, has been sent back to Sydney to be dealt with by his anion. This course was advised by the officers of the New Zealand Union. ”
