MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

Temuka—Tuesday, Sept. Ilia, 1894. [Before 0. A. Wray, Esq., S.M., and J. M. Twomey, Esq., J.P.] BREACH OP POLICE OFFENCES. Joseph Bloomfield was charged with unlawfully obstructing Commerce Street by leaving timber overhanging the fototpath. Accused admitted the offence. It appeared that accused, who is ; a carrier, brought out some timber for Mr E. Brown, and finding the premises closed put it over the gate, leaving the ends projecting oyer the footpath. Fined 6s without costs. CIVIL CASES. J. Mclntosh v. Thos. Oliver—Claim £1 3s. This was a claim for “refreshments” supplied. His Worship said that the claim was improperly made tout, and further that the plaintiff could not recover ■ for drinks supplied. Plaintiff asked that the case be adjourned to enable him to make the claiin in proper form as the defendant had practically admitted the claim to him. His Worship consented to the adjournment, but advised the plaintiff to settle privately with the defendant. H. Clinch v. Albert Leonard—Claim £1 6s for goods supplied. Judgment for. plaintiff by default with costs. Same v. D. McCoy—Claim £5. Judgment for plaintiff by default for amount claimed and costs. G. McS. Gentlemun v. Hugh Flannery —Claim £2 10s, balance of rent as per agreement. Defendant did not appear. Plaintiff stated by affidavit that he had reason to believe defendant was leaving the district. Judgment was given for plaintiff with costs. Plaintiff applied for immediate execution, which, after some consideration, was granted. The Court then rose.
